If you are ever stuck on a jewelry dilemma, Francesca may just be your answer. Oozing with creativity, Francesca is a lawyer-cum-designer. Always having had the passion for creating jewelry, she decided one day walking along the streets of Italy, ‘enough is enough’. Packed her bags and came to London and gave life to her dream (ok, perhaps it was a little more complicated than that but the true story isn’t far off).
Intrigued not only by the tale but by the recommendations of friends who had commissioned pieces, I went for a visit. What better place to see a creative at work than in their lab? So last Saturday I headed down to Hatton Garden to pay Francesca a little visit.
She was hard at work while I snapped away.
Francesca has been invited to many exhibitions, has a piece being published in a book and is queen of sourcing all sorts of materials for her creations. She mixes precious, semi-precious and not precious to create bespoke pieces. The pearl necklace above has a black rubber circle holding the vintage piece to the pearls… brilliant!
And look at this little chap. The thorns are once again black rubber. And underneath – look at those little feet!!!! Too cute!
And how could you say no to this little family? And here is the collection – properly photographed to give it the justice it deserves. Remember that Francesca is available to create bespoke jewelry or even rework an unloved piece into something new and spicy. You should give her a call (find her details here).
Another little quirk is that some pieces actually move. For example, the seal with the red ball in the slideshow? It actually twirls. Or the little gold fish in the coral? It wiggles. The golden train on the ring? It choo-choo’s (just kidding) but it does go round.
